In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife and Life After Life, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s genre-defying tour de force.

A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever—and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

I couldn’t put it down. I could feel the anticipation, and the 300 years of build up made it all better. And I loved the author’s style and storytelling.

Beautifully written and very enjoyable novel.

I just want to say that this book is exactly like the God in the shadow a blessing and a curse. I have never cried more and been so happy at the same time. Perfect writing.

I cannot express how much I loved this book! It beautifully spins a world of life ,love, and magic through history. It’s bitter and sweet with loss and triumph. What a wonderful story ,I couldn’t put it down !

I don’t understand the praise for this book. There were so many spectacular events in history that could have been discussed but instead her continually abusive relationship with Luc is emphasized. I kept hoping for something more but never got it. Waste of time and money.

So beautifully written. It shattered my heart and put it back together again.

Absolutely loved this book. Definitely a work of art

Have you ever heard a song and you had to stop whatever you were doing just to listen to it with your eyes closed? This book was like that for me. I am so far from my favored genre but this book has its hooks in me. It was like reading poetry. It was like I was in a dream. It was like I was reading the lyrics of a favorite song. It’s everything I love rolled into one. I was bawling at the end, then smirking on the last page. No other book has made me feel the way I do now. Beautiful, timeless, tragic. My favorite read of the year(maybe the decade)

This was so good

Simply amazing. Written beautifully. This book was honestly a work of art. Thank you.

Took me a minute to get into the story, I little heavy and slow at the start but really picks up and has a great ending. Love the topics it brings up, makes you think.

This was a fun read — but I struggled with two things: 1) She uses the Sacré Coeur basilica in Paris as a setting for action in the 18th century. It wasn’t built until the 20th century; 2) The main character lists the languages she speaks, among them, “Swiss.” This author deserves a much better editor or proofreader.

Throughly enjoyed this book, made me feel so many emotions

I am in awe of those who can weave such magic! Thank you !

Did not want it to end! Love the authors style and really fell for the characters. Great story and pace, engaging throughout the entire thing, which is appreciated for a somewhat longer read.

I could not stop reading. The story tells of Addie’s past and present, V.E. Schwab did not hold back on the pain, struggles, and so many other human emotions Addie had to deal with. As soon as the boy made his debut into the book I had to know how did he remember her! I recommend this book!

This is beautifully written and will bring tears to your eyes. It is absolutely wonderful, and a must read.

Enjoyed this book and its unusual theme. However, it went on way to long, could have lost 300 pages and still been very good. Too Repetitive and almost stopped reading. Recommend reading, just know it is too long. Be a fun tv series.

I loved this book so so much. It was not at all what I expected. I loved Addie. Henry was a great character too. I highly recommend this book.

Best book I have read in 10 years Wonderful writing, like a 500 page poem with present and past thoughts. The ending was predictable but very moving The writing was so poetic I read this book slowly so I could savor every page.

Read and it and weep, and laugh, and wonder

I was not expecting to find myself with a drenched shirt full of tears near the end of this book nor the spark of hope in those last words. This was truly a wonderful read, and has left me with a want for a further continuation of Addie and Henry’s story even Addie and Luc’s story. I feel greedy asking for more but this was so beautifully written that the characters themselves deserve another story. So, what do you say? Shall we make a deal?

I honestly can’t remember the last time I got through an entire novel without losing interest, but this one I couldn’t put down. Interesting characters and a unique plot. Definitely recommend!

This book intrigued me the entire way through! Definitely recommend!

I couldn’t put this book down. I loved the story all the way through. Recommend to anyone.

So glad I came across this book. The writers style is beautiful and the story is enchanting. I was sad to learn that this is a stand alone and there will be no sequel. We are left to use our imagination instead.

I can’t explain it - just read it.

New concept makes for amazing and addictive reading. Would you want to live forever but make no impression of your life, no friends, no children, no mark of your existence? Haunting and memorable book.

This book was excellent, awe inspiring! Addie is very clever.

Read this if you want to immerse yourself in a magical, yet realistic and heartbreaking story. The writing is gorgeous, the characters feel genuine and they truly come alive on the page. It blends dreams and reality masterfully, a touch of dark magic in the real world. This is the kind of book you’ll be thinking about long after you finish reading it (I know I will be).

Beautifully written but really heavy

This is my first time reading work from V. E. Schwab and I absolutely loved it! The writing style and plot was a beautiful, immersive experience. Definitely worth the read.

This was amazing! Such a different kind of story. I could not put it down. I have no words! This author proves once again why she is one of my very favorites!

This book simultaneously tore my heart into pieces and put it back together again. I feel as if I, too, have lived with Addie for those 300 years, and I hated finishing the book because it meant, for now, saying goodbye. But it isn’t a goodbye, it’s an ellipses, it’s a see you later, because I will definitely be rereading this again and again. It’s a timeless tale that I can’t get enough of.
